ArthroLase Joint Venture Wins Global Innovation Award at 2025 ISTA Shark Tank in Rome

ArthroLase is proud to announce that OrthoLuma™, its joint venture with New York-based Caira Surgical, has taken first place at the prestigious International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA) 2025 Shark Tank competition in Rome, Italy.

The winning innovation, LumaScan™, is a fast, contactless surface registration system that uses AI-driven optical sensing to enable next-generation accuracy in robotic joint replacement surgery. By replacing traditional manual or probe-based bone registration with intelligent optical scanning, LumaScan™ enhances surgical precision, efficiency, and consistency. This is a critical leap forward in the evolution of robotic arthroplasty.

Formed in April 2025, OrthoLuma combines ArthroLase’s laser-based bone preparation expertise with Caira Surgical’s world-leading navigation and radar technologies. Together, the partnership is pioneering new frontiers in AI-driven optical robotics, setting a benchmark for what precision orthopaedics can achieve through collaboration.
